Last week we shared the story of Hung, who was approved for heart surgery sponsorship. He also got a new name: his given name represented conflict and hatred. MEDIX Executive Director LaRelle Catherman suggested a new name for him to go with his new lease on life: it was decided to call him Hung, which means ‘hero’ in Vietnamese.
Hung has just successfully undergone heart surgery and was discharged from the hospital on April 13th! Hung and his mom look so incredibly happy for the opportunities that lie ahead of Hung, and want to thank the MEDRIX donors for making all of this possible. Without you, providing life-saving heart surgeries simply wouldn’t be possible.
Below is a letter from Hung’s mother to all of our supporters and donors.
My name is Nguyen Thi Binh , I live in Van Khanh Village, An Lao District, Binh Dinh province.
I have a 10 years old son. His name is Tran Van Nho Han [now Hung] admitted to Hue Central Hospital for heart surgery. However, when the doctor at the Hospital told me to prepare 80,000,000 VND for heart surgery, I was so surprised. This is a huge amount of money and it is out of my family loan. I was so frightened. Fortunately, after we was counseled and introduced to your organization, my son was supported the surgery cost. I am so happy that the surgery was successful and my son is doing very well and will discharge from the hospital on April 13, 2016. My family would like to send our sincere thanks to the donors and your organization who has given us advice, encouraged us and supported the surgery cost and travel expenses to my son.
I pray for all the best will come to you – the donors and organization and wish for other poor patients like us can have an opportunity to meet the kind and generous donors. Thank you again for your great help and wish you all good health and peaceful life.
Yours sincerely,
Nguyen Thi Binh
