MEDRIX donors have supported 15 Vietnamese children for corrective heart surgery during the first 8 months of 2023. The surgeries are performed in-country by highly-qualified Vietnamese surgeons in two large hospitals in Hue and Hanoi.
When the MEDRIX team travels to Vietnam in October, team members will interview more prospective families whose children still need heart surgery but whose family is not able to afford the cost of surgery. In the past 15 years, the MEDRIX team has been able to say “yes” to every family we have interviewed — then cried together with the relieved mom and dad once the family’s major financial obstacle that has been overcome.
